Rooster’s Motorcycle Market Day – A Community Event in Memory of a Friend

21 May 2026

On Saturday 2nd May, Rooster’s Bike Barn hosted its first Motorcycle Market Day here at Salle Moor Hall Farm — a lively mix of bikes, bargains, and brilliant people coming together for a good cause.

The yard filled early with motorcycles for sale, many of them ridden in by their owners, giving visitors the rare chance to see, hear, and talk about the machines up close. Alongside the bikes, the bike jumble offered pre‑loved riding gear, tools, and memorabilia, drawing in collectors, newcomers, and long‑time enthusiasts alike.

Guests enjoyed hot and cold refreshments, patisserie treats, and drinks from the All Day Brewing bar, creating a relaxed, social atmosphere that carried through the whole day.

A Day Held in Memory of Dick

This year’s event held special meaning for the Rooster’s community.

Olli, proprietor of Rooster’s Bike Barn, kindly agreed to sell Dick’s collection of mostly vintage motorcycles on behalf of his widow. Dick was a familiar and much‑loved face at our Social Saturday bike meets — a man with deep mechanical knowledge, a passion for classic bikes, and a generosity of spirit that made him instantly approachable.

He was also known for something wonderfully humble: his pride in washing up at Rooster’s events. In his early 80s, Dick would roll up his sleeves and tackle the ever‑growing stack of cups with a smile, keeping count as the numbers climbed each month. It became a running joke — and a point of pride — that no one could out‑wash Dick.

Dick sadly passed away in January, and his absence is felt by all who knew him.

Raising Funds for Cancer52

In his memory, Rooster’s Bike Barn has been raising money for Cancer52, a charity supporting people affected by rare and less common cancers.

  • £240 was raised in January
  • £197.50 was raised at the Motorcycle Market Day

A heartfelt thank‑you goes to everyone who donated, bought a coffee, purchased an item, or simply turned up to support the day. Your contributions help continue the spirit of kindness and community that Dick embodied.

Looking Ahead

Rooster’s Motorcycle Market Day has quickly become a highlight in the calendar, and this year’s event showed just how strong and supportive the biking community is at Salle Moor Hall Farm. We’re proud to host gatherings that bring people together — to share stories, celebrate passions, and remember friends who made a difference.

More events are planned throughout the year, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
